1973 Mercedes Benz 280SE came in to have the severe oxidation removed and bring back the luster to the neglected single stage paint. With old and oxidized paint, it’s more important to re saturate and protect than it is to eliminate defects. If you get too aggressive you run the heavy risk of removing too much paint and punching through the color and going into the primer or worse the metal.
After a hand wash and full decontamination, we removed the dead layer of paint while saturating the layers below returning the gloss that was previously lost. We then topped it with out 6 month sealant to ensure that the result is protected and locked in. As long as the paint is properly maintained, there is no reason that further oxidation will become present.
